To write a song about someone, we need to hear about them. Here is what we keep, why, and who else sees it.

What we collect

• Your interview answers: the person’s name, the occasion, and the stories and details you share.
• Your email address, so we can send your lyrics preview and your song.
• Your order: the delivery option, price, payment status, and any changes you ask for.
• Your gift signature and note, if you add them on your song page.
• If you join the waitlist: your email, who the song would be for and the occasion if you give one. We use them only to tell you when we open, and we delete them if you ask.

We don’t collect your card details. Payment is handled by Creem. We don’t use advertising or tracking cookies.

How we use it

Only to make your song, deliver it, answer you and handle refunds. We don’t sell your information or share it for advertising.

AI and the services we use

Penny Ballad uses AI to help make songs. The interview is a chat with our AI assistant, and AI helps write the lyrics and make the music. A person on our team reviews every song. To do this, we share what’s needed with a few services:

• Anthropic (Claude) runs the interview and helps draft the lyrics. It receives your interview answers. Anthropic does not use this data to train its models.
• An AI music service turns the lyrics and a style description into the recording. It receives the lyrics and style, not your email.
• Creem processes your payment as our merchant of record.
• Resend sends our emails to you.
• Our hosting provider stores the site and your order.

Your song page

Your song page and gift link aren’t listed or searchable, but anyone with the link can open them. Share them only with people you want to hear the song.

How long we keep it

We keep your order and song so your links keep working. Ask us and we’ll delete your interview, lyrics, song and email address. We may keep a basic payment record where the law requires it.

Your choices

You can ask to see, correct or delete your information at any time. California residents have these rights under the CCPA, and we give them to everyone. We won’t treat you differently for asking.

Penny Ballad is not meant for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information.
